I just finished going through and optimizing the hall of fame, user lookup, and clan ranking database schemas and relevant scripts. They will look the exact same to you, but they will load extremely fast now. The difference with some of them really is incredible, it's like night and day. For example, the monthly cs hall of fame page was been particularly notorious for being extremely sluggish. It now loads virtually instantaneously, an increase in speed of 3 or even 4 orders of magnitude.

So while you're not guaranteed to not have to wait ever again, I can assure you the bottleneck will not be a poorly designed database schema anymore. :)
